The beautiful bay of La Herradura is the envy of Almuñecar and one of the prettiest bays along the south coast of Spain. The 2km of sand beach is one of the principal attractions in the area. Unlike almost anywhere along the southern coast, development has been restricted in height and you can still enjoy the contours of the natural setting.

However the most spectacular historic monument is the Nerja caves. Located 3km from the centre of town is an archaeological cave containing the world's widest column.
Sierra Nevada is Europe's most southern ski resort. The resort is located 32km from the centre of Granada and is only a 50-minute drive. The highest summit of the Sierra Nevada range is Mulhacen at 3,481 metres, the highest ski lift goes to just below Veleta which is at 3,398 metres. Andalucia has a very high proportion of sunny days even in the winter and usually it is possible to ski with beautiful blue skies and warm temperatures.
